  • What are the risks involved in embarking on a voyage into the unknown?
The risks involved on a voyage were getting lost in the middle of the ocean, starvation, natural disasters, and also the attacks from native people. These risks are deadly and lots of people can get killed during the voyage.

  • What will you do if you actually run into other people?
I would talk to them and try to associate with other people. Socialization between other people can help me to discover new things. For example, I might get to see new spices or goods, gems, and jewelry. Also, it will help with trading materials with other people. Materials that can help continuing on the voyage or that can contribute to the country.

Before You Leave

Your final task before leaving for the long voyage is FOR BOTH to look up ONE piece of new navigation technology you will be using so that you can teach your partner about how you will be using it. THIS INFORMATION COULD SAVE YOUR LIVES! Simply, search for ONE of the following tools and write a few sentences describing WHAT the instrument is and HOW it is used. (You can also look at p. 97 in your text to get you started.)

If I was a captain of the ship that in charge of a long voyage, I would use a compass. Compass will allow to navigate where we are going, so we don't get lost in the middle of the sea. There should be no worry about starvation and other risks with this compass. Compass also allows us to know what direction we are going by matching the arrows on South and North.
